These are very rare, however, should you have to abandon a match please note.
For a result to "stand," at least 60 mins must be played. Or usually, 75% of match time in games with less than 80 mins, see league or competition rules
Often in an abandoned match scenario the following may apply
a) Injury and no pitch available - please see our Reportable Injury process and see if it applies. Ie did the person go to hospital and they were admitted for a night or longer if so it applies.
b) A Red Card will have been issued. Make sure you put in the report that you abandoned the game and reasons why eg
there was an undercurrent feeling of retribution waiting to happen. I felt by restarting the game would lead to further incidents & that the players had lost their discipline and on that basis abandoned the game for reasons of safety and to ensure RFU values were maintained
c) Crowd and Ground - either or both become unsafe in terms of your ability to control the game. This could be a pitch is not safe (frost after KO), barriers or technical areas are not suitable or are not being used or ypou are in a common area (pitches on council ground) and people outside the control of you or the club(s) are interfering with play.
d) You have not issued a card but have decided the game can not play for reasons of health, safety and well-being owing to an on-pitch incident.
Should any of these occur please let Director/Hon. Secretary Conal Scholes scholes.conal@gmail.com in the first instance, you will need to fill out the RFU form which is on this page in either PDF or word format
